Students with multiple disabilities and visual impairment (MDVI) are usually accompanied with other disorders such as mental retardation and physical disability. Consequently, it takes more complication and difficulties in their academic learning. MDVI students cannot adapt to an educational program designed for the single specific impairment. Moreover, MDVI students need assistance with special supporting system for their safety and convenience of mobility in school. Currently there is no consistent system of tactile symbols in Huei-Ming School for the Blind. To meet the need of Huei-Ming School, this study tries to design an accessible guided map in the Huei-Ming by means of the Tangible Symbols Communication System form Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired. The classrooms from a single floor were used for the experimental study. The standardized tangible symbols for classroom nameplates would be made through the 3D printing for all teachers according to their needs with the established digitized model database. Students could follow the standardized tangible symbols for classroom nameplates and walk more freely and confidently in the educational environment. Through the observation of case with MDVI students, we could examine the effect of map with Tangible Symbols Communication System on their orientation and mobility in the school. Finally, hope these results could be used in the special school and help more visually impaired students.
