The Influence of Cognitive Teaching Strategies on Volleyball Learning of Elementary School Students

The purpose of this study was to explore the influence of metacognitive teaching strategies on the volleyball of elementary school students. Forty four sixth-grade students from two different classes in Hsinchu city participated in this study. One is meta-cognitive teaching group (n = 22), using meta-cognitive teaching strategies to teach students. Another group is the control group (n = 22), using traditional teaching strategies to teach students. And it took four weeks, eight classes, for the experimental teaching. Dependent t test was used in data analysis to test the differences of the pretest and protest in the cognitive ability and Motor-skill learning. Then, ONEWAY ANOCVA was used to test the differences of the protest between two groups in the cognitive ability and Motor-Skill learning. The significant level set at α < .05. The results showed that there were significant differences between metacognitive teaching and traditional teaching groups in cognition ability and Motor-Skill learning. The cognitive and Motor-Skill learning of the metacognitive teaching group was better. The finding of the study was that metacognitive teaching strategies can effectively improve cognitive and Motor-Skill learning. Furthermore, it can be used on physical education to enhance teaching effectiveness.
