A Study on the relationship between the type of part-time job and the career development for Students of Mechanical Engineering Department at Vocational High Schools-A Case of the Machinery Department.

| Popis: | 105 This thesis aims to explore the attributes of part-time jobs taken by students enrolled in extension programs of occupational high schools and their tendencies in career planning. A comparison study was conducted to identify the divergence in the types of part-time jobs and career planning presented among students of different backgrounds, as well as the correlation between the types of part-time jobs undertaken by the students and their tendencies in career planning. To achieve the above objective, this research began from an exploration of the theoretic basis through an extensive literature review. Based on the research literature, a questionnaire for the Survey on part-time Jobs and Career planning undertaking by Students Enrolled in Extension programs of Occupational High Schools was developed, which was implemented targeting on students currently under training for Mechanical Engineering. The survey was conducted through the stratified random sampling method. A total of 994 questionnaires were sent out and 903 returned, among which 850 were deemed valid and converted into a response rate of 85.51%. The collected data was compiled and analyzed through the descriptive statistical analysis method, independent samples t test, one-way ANOVA, Scheffé’s method, Turky HSD and LSD for post-hoc test. The above analyses provided the following information. 1.The students of Vocational High Schools who have job current or accumulated higher years at work, they havebetter sense on their Career Planning. 2.The difference reason of the part time jobs will influence the Career Planning of students. Among the reason of the part time jobs based on ‘Study of Vocational Skills’, the students of Vocational High Schools have better sense on career planning than the students who have no work experience. 3.The jobs types current or preferred will influence student’s sense on their career planning. The students will determine the career in the future by the jobs types current or preferred. 4.The salary of part time jobs will influence student’s sense on Career planning.
