Analysis of the Business Model and Network Development of Low Cost Carriers in Asia

| Popis: | 105 Because of the difference of geographical locations, and freedom of the airs, Low Cost Carriers (LCCs) would choose different kinds of Business Model to capture value. The aim of this research is to analyze different Business Models and network development between Low Cost Carriers in Asia.This study focuses on 55 Low Cost Carriers in Asia region. First, we investigate the current situation of these Low Cost Carriers, and then we try to classify these LCCs by cluster analysis and analyze the core logit of their Business Model. After that, we use Innovata flight schedule data covering year 2004, 2008, 2012 and 2016 to analyze the network development. The result of our analysis shows that Low Cost Carriers of this study can cluster to seven groups including long/medium-haul, medium-haul with monopoly, medium -haul with competition, regional, domestic with monopoly, domestic with competition and domestic with matureness. The result also indicates that there is correlation bet- ween Business Model and network development. Substantially, the same trends exist when these LCCs in the same group. However, it still has some different due to geographical locations, development of aviation market and liberalization. |
