Solid solubility limit in multicomponent FCC alloys

This study explore the solid solution behavior of different elements in multicomponent FCC alloys. In addition to the actual solid solubility limit, we also examine seven published solid solubility limit prediction models and evaluate the accuracy. Among them, the average absolute error of the model with the highest accuracy is 17.2 at.% in predicting cast alloy and 18.3 at.% in predicting homogeneous alloy. Finally, we developed our own new thermodynamic model. The results show that our thermodynamic model predicts the MAE of the casting and homogeneous solid solubility limit are both 5.3 at.%. Comparing with the existing model, our thermodynamic model is able to greatly improve the accuracy.
