After Google launched the street view service globally in 2005, everyone could easily do tour route planning and panoramic guide. However, users always need to click on the panoramic images constantly to change the street view that causes troubles to users. In 2013, researches ever automatically streamed the Google street view and greatly decreased troubles. However, if people wanted to browse the street view arbitrarily, they had to pause the streaming and then be back to click on the street view constantly. Motion detection is an interactive way without any button, such as Wii, Kinect and Leap Motion. However, most of these solutions have higher limits because of the need of a specific hardware. This research uses a general webcam to detect gestures to interact with panoramic virtual traveling system. Users can open a palm to do streaming and one finger point to stop streaming. Besides, moving to up, down, right and left judging by a rectangular range can change the vertical and horizontal angles of the street view, and finally making a fist can stop any movements. This interaction of gestures and panoramic virtual traveling system can solve the clicking problem and lower the limit of hardware. The integration of gestures and panoramic virtual traveling system can be applied to other mobile devices through the front cameras to satisfy the mobile requirement in the future.
