Popis: | 105 Glossogyne tenuifolia (GT) is a perennial herb and mainly grows in Penghu Island. The dried whole-plant herb is generally boiled to yield an herbal tea. Recent studies demonstrated that GT’s extract has the pharmacological activities of antioxidant, anti-inflammation, anti-osteogenesis, and cytotoxicity on several human cancer cell lines. Nowadays in Penghu, only few wild GT left due to the excessive picking, farmed GT production has become the main source of GT. However, local farmers still do not known the proper farming time in GT production. Current farming period is about 6-9 months. This study compared the bioactivities and bioactive ingredients of ethanol extracts and solvent partitioned extracts from 6-month to 4-year farmed GT. The experimental results indicated that the root extract of 2-year had the best anti-inflammation, anti-osteogenesis and anti-cancer activity. The extract of 3-year farmed GT had the best antioxidant activity and the highest amounts of bioactive ingredients. For partitioned extracts, n-hexane extracts had the best anti-inflammation and anti-osteogenesis activities. Ethyl acetate extracts had the highest cytotoxicity on A549 lung cancer cells. Hexane extract had the best cytotoxicity on Hep G2 hepatoma cells. Methanol extract had the highest antioxidant activity and the highest amounts of bioactive ingredients. This study also compared the bioactivities and bioactive ingredients contents of ethanol extracts of whole plant, aerial, and root of the farmed GT from Chiayi and Penghu. The experimental results showed that the root extract had the best anti-inflammation, anti-osteogenesis and anti-cancer activity. The aerial extract had the best antioxidant activity and the highest amounts of bioactive ingredients. In overall, GT planted in Penghu had better bioactivities. |
