In recent years, industries stride various walks towards the development of automation, construction industry is no exception. In the past, construction workers usually used hand tool to tie bars for the reinforced concrete buildings. Recently, reinforcing bar binding machines are developed to save manpower. However, the rebar workers need to perform repetitive action every day. It is easy to cause physical burden, resulting in musculoskeletal and other persistent injuries. In order to reduce down the damage this study improves the reinforcing bar binding machine design for better operation postures. This study uses TRIZ to improve the design of reinforcing bar binding machine. The use of TRIZ theory include Trends of Evolution, Contradiction Matrix, S-Fields and others. By adding a positioner to the binding machine allows workers to operate the machine by a standing posture, thereby reducing the burden on the knee.
