Through the uniqueness of different types of chains and franchises, this research sets out to establish theoretical models to analyze the optimal scale, which includes the number of the chains, pricing, and volume. The basic model of the research found that increasing the initial number of the chains is especially effective given that the goal is to trump the competitors. In addition, regardless of the scale of the chain, one could outperform its competitors through one of the following four factors, 1) the success rate of the franchisee; 2) the practice of pricing adjustment strategy; 3) service differentiation; 4) strategies such as expanding stores swiftly and increasing operation locations. The management strategies of a chain have significant impacts on both the renewal of contract and the new franchisees. In society with a well-developed chain industry, chain brands are more than three. However, the theoretical models of the franchise management models and the optimal scale analysis are not easily found in the literature. And the purpose is to explore the basic model to specify the strategies and the responses to the market competition adopted by the chain industry. A way to address this is to analyze and study it by simplifying the brands in the chain industry. In the future, if the theory and the practice can test and verify each other by combining the results of this study and the empirical research on franchisees, it will provide effective business practices for the operators to stand out in the market.
