Fabrication of diode and triode field emission lighting devices and method for improvement of lifetime

The study is to develop a diode structure and triode structure devices for field emission lighting application. Carbon nanotubes were used as emitters while ZnS particles were employed as phosphor. In order to increase the efficiency, lifetime and uniformity of the devices, we used the pulse width modulation technique, thermal dispersive technique and modification of phosphor for the enhancement of the device performance. As a result, high luminance of 12690 cd/m2, good uniformity of 15.96 %, high efficiency of 74.79 lm/W and stable current density(8 % decay with 120 min)can be achieved using a lateral cathode structure lighting devices.
