The coffee ring effect has been received great attentions, which the particle distribution after solvent evaporation is affected by process conditions such as temperature, surfactant, and particle shape. Some studies have reported that the electrical conductive lines can be made from the metallic particles by the coffee ring effect. The resistance of the lines depends on the properties of the metallic particles and the junction resistance among the particles. In this study, silver nanowires synthesized by the ethylene glycol method and silver particles synthesized by the co-precipitation method were used to form conductive lines via the drying process control. Experimental results revealed that the lines made from silver nanowires had better conductivity than those made from silver nanoparticles; the lines made from thick silver nanowires had better conductivity than those made from thin ones. It was also found that the optimal concentration of surfactant was 0.04 wt%. To let the nanowires contact more tightly, the gas flow was used in the drying process. The resistivity of the resulting lines is 4.84 Ω·m – close to that of a pure bulk silver.
