Improving the Interest of Creative Dance:Using Changping Affiliated Middle School as a Reaserch Example

Recently, researchers have found that interest in learning dance in middle schools in Beijing is relatively low. To solve this problem, the author combines her years of teaching experience in Beijing, China with accumulated knowledge during her study in Taiwan. In this research, she draws from pedagogical methods and theories from China, Taiwan, and foreign countries such as USA and UK. Taking the above-mentioned information as the background and motive of the research, the author hopes to increase the learning interest of middle school students in dance lessons in Beijing, China. The author selected one, first-year class at Changping affiliated middle school at Beijing Normal University as the experimental subjects of the research. She conducted the teaching portion of the study with independently designed creative dance courses. Using questionnaires, related learning documents, interview records, and other forms, the author completed this research through a composite analysis. The researcher''s teaching design combines creative dance with the students'' current academic courses in order to increase learning interests and to improve educational outcomes. Through the research, the following results were obtained: 1. Through the survey questionnaire and interviews with the students, the researcher found that creative dance does enhance the interests of junior high school students in learning dance courses. 2. The teaching design method of combining creative dance and their current disciplines of study reflects the diversity of creative dance teaching, and stimulates students'' curiosity and enthusiasm, which is conducive to the improvement of general learning interests. 3. The experimental teaching mode was studied through the students'' behavior. It was found that the degree of satisfaction that students showed for the creative dance course after the course was implemented was as high as 91%.
