Improvement of Settle Time for Servo Control System with Vibrational Load

The settling time of the servo control system should be as small as possible to improve production efficiency. However, in some applications with coupling or flexible device such as robotics, mechanical arm and lead screw system would reduce the rigidity of the system. The system with low rigidity would generate the vibration when the load reaches the target position. Furthermore, the vibration would increase the settling time and reduce the production efficiency. Since vibration causes mechanical device abrasion, the positioning accuracy of servo system would be deteriorated. In this thesis, a novel control structure is proposed to improve the settling time and eliminate the vibration at the load side. The proposed structure is composed of the bi-quad filter. The parameters of the bi-quad filter can be calculated by the detected vibration frequency, the controller gain, and the inertia and friction coefficient of the load. Both the theoretical analysis and the experimental verifications are included in the thesis.
