A Study of Hsin Rong Memorial Library Impact on User's Leisure Culture and Lifestyle

| Popis: | 104 With the social change and technological developments, people receive the information increasingly and frequently. The boost information brings people with different thinking about leisure and their quality of life. Appropriate leisure activities help people to improve their spirit and life quality. In addition, it has positive impact on social culture and national development. Traditionally, the roles of public libraries include storage of knowledge, transformation of information, cultural and artistic inheritance, place of education and learning. However, these traditional features have been gradually replaced by new technology. Public libraries must offer innovative services to fulfill the demands of libraries user. Among them, with the capability of leisure service is nowadays the public libraries need to have and provide. This thesis study Hsin Rong Memorial Library impact on the user’s leisure culture and lifestyle. Study collects the literatures about libraries and leisure to discuss the leisure function, role, and status of public libraries. We designed questionnaire for 106 library users to understand their behavior and suggestion of library. In addition, by using in-depth interview method, we designed open ended questions for another 6 library users for further investigation. Study also uses observation method for verification. Based on the study we found: 1.Hsin Rong Memorial Library operates with multiple service and promotion method. 2.85.8% users satisfy Hsin Rong Memorial Library’s service. 3.94.3% users agree that Hsin Rong Memorial Library impact their leisure culture and lifestyle. 4.The lifestyle impact on all ages including pre-school and school children, parents, retired person and the general public. 5.Hsin Rong Memorial Library brings the “leisure culture with reading” and its impacts include three levels: spirit, social, and economy. We expect the study can be the reference for the public libraries setup with leisure service. |
