According to fire laws in Taiwan, buildings lower than five stories for residential use are free from setting systematic type of automatic fire alarm equipments. Thus often results in casualties because of people at home failing to detect fire early and leave less time for evacuation. Therefore, setting residential fire alarm system is the obligation of house owners. As of November 2015, The Fire Administration statistics showed that the installed rate of residential fire alarm system in Taiwan was 14%, indicating that the majority of Taiwan's residence still has not been installed residential fire alarm yet. The reason why most residence not installed is people neither understand the importance of residential fire alarm for home security, nor recognize functions and features of residential fire alarm. Therefore, this study is based on collected information and focused on type, setting measure, battery type, characteristic function, installed rate, project product approval of as well as approved qualified number, patent design, data analysis of residential fire alarm for data analyzing and aggregating, and then publicize how to use residential fire alarm. The study collects, counts, analyzes data thru logging in two certified bodies such as Foundation of Fire Safety Foundation Center and Fire Technology Consultant Foundation, Republic of China. The results shows that from 2011 to 2015, during all types of qualified residential fire alarm, photoelectric accounts for 68%, Ionization type 29% and the rest Fixed temperature type 3%. Among them the alkaline battery totally accounts for 71%, lithium battery 29%. The higher share of alkaline battery in the market because it is much cheaper than lithium battery. The residential fire alarms are made by Taiwan, China, Japan and Singapore. On the other hand, residential fire alarms with lithium batteries made by Japan accounted for 53%, Taiwan 27%, China 16% and Singapore 4%. Alkaline battery manufactured in Taiwan accounted for 52%, China accounted for 48%, indicating that Japan is not manufacturing any alkaline-battery alarm device, because lithium batteries is more suitable than alkaline batteries used in residential fire alarms. The results of this study are providing in addition to the people to understand the status and function of residential fire alarm, as a reference for buying residential fire alarms, Furthermore it will push us to pay attention to residential fireproof importance and necessity.
