'First Love Always The Most Beautiful？' The Comparative of 《Apple Daily》's Nationalistic Implications of Chien-Ming Wang and Wei-Yin Chen.

| Popis: | 104 Chien-Ming Wang stood on the mound again in Major League Baseball on April 10th 2016. All the media called Wang “First Love” and appropraited the opportunity to operate on nationalistic issues. Wang and Wei-Yin Chen are both shining in MLB. This research aims to examine how《Apple Daily》represented Wang and Chen？What are the differences between them？The study adopted discourse analysis model to analyze Wang and Chen’s nationalistic discourse content. Focus group interview was also adopted to analyze why Wang became Taiwan baseball fans’“First Love”. The study shows that through the reports of Wang’s and Chen’performance, their images and representation were closely connected to the image of Taiwan. The media hoped to use these two great Taiwanese baseball players’ achievement to build an image which Taiwanese are united as one. The difference between Wang and Chen was embodied in the First Love” feeling of Wang among Taiwanese baseball fans’. Baseball fans all agree that Wang is their “First Love”. And because of Wang’s performance, Taiwan nationalism was shown in the world stage. That’s the reason of Wang becoming Taiwan baseball fans’ “First love”. |
