Popis: | 104 Trumpet during the Baroque era(1600-1750)in 17th century was not considered as an instrument due to its development was not fully-fledged. It merely served as a secondary or accompany instrument in an orchestra. However, composer George Frideric Handel (1685-1759) had use it as a main instrument successfully in his masterpieces, among which were Water Music (1717), which was appreciated by the Queen of England, Oratorio Messiah (1741), that deeply touched the King of England, and Music for the Royal Fireworks (1748), played in the musical concert in memory of the victory of War of Austrian Succession. The instrument was especially emphasized in Oratorio Messiah and had become the primary and spiritual role in Hallelujah, that raised it is status in Handel’s work. Given these factors, the thesis provides analyses to the part of Messiah, hoping to give a further understanding and deeper impression. Given that Messiah includes the coming, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, it is often arranged to play the whole Oratorio or partial choir during Christmas or Easter, The thesis, from the perspective of a trumpet performer, discusses the applications and obstacles encountered when playing the instrument under the time. How the composer conquered the obstacles and presented the uniqueness of trumpet in the Oratorio has given music lovers a further comprehensions of the status of trumpet in history. |
