When building a huge structure, pedestrian level wind environment assessment becomes an important issue all over the world since an uncomfortable or unsafe pedestrian wind environment would directly affect the usability of building and the region around the building. This study summarized the guidelines of using Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) to simulate Pedestrian level wind environment and then conducted simulations based on these guidelines to predict wind acceleration effects of the flow field around an obstacle. First, this study carried out CFD simulations of flow around hill, ridge and escarpment and compared with the values specified in wind resistant design code (2015). The result showed that the Realizable k-ε model was more better then standard k-ε model in reproducing the reverse flow. Then, it also compared CFD results of flow around a 4:1:4 building with CFD results of Tominaga et al. (2004) and results from wind tunnel test. It’s very similar results by different k-ε models but different from wind tunnel test. It should improve the grid resolution then getting better result.
