Popis: | 104 Restorative Justice conferences around the world usually have multiple goals. Past studies suggested that facilitators with different background held different opinions upon what conferences intend to achieve. However, previous domestic studies are mainly qualitative. The analysis was based on data drawn from 194 facilitators and accompanists in a questionnaire survey. The current research used secondary data analysis to discuss the following questions, such as: Are facilitators and accompanists different in terms of their demographic characteristics, personal background, and the experience about restorative justice? Will their choices of major conference goals different significantly? And what are the influence factors behind their choices? It was found that the demographic characteristics of a typical facilitator or accompanist is similar between our country and foreign country. The majority are female, around 50 years old, who received university degree. Chi-square test and ANOVA test found no significant difference between facilitators and accompanists in terms of their personal background. However, they had significant difference on the frequency of dealing restorative justice cases, receiving IIRP training, and holding professional background. Most of the facilitators had professional background and received IIRP training, but not the accompanists. The result of Logistic regression showed that independent variables have no direct effect on dependent variables alone. When adjustment variables were applied, it was found that the professional background, IIRP training, and program role (as a facilitator or a accompanist) interacted and influenced respondents' choice of top three goals of restorative justice conference during investigation phase. Similar mediation effect was also found when explaining the choice of top three goals of restorative justice conference during trial phase. As a result, the study suggests that recruiting and training facilitators and accompanists should take their professional background, IIRP training, experience as a mediator, and the frequency of dealing restorative justice case into consideration. Currently in Taiwan, nearly all facilitators were required to be professionals who completed restorative justice conference training course, but the requirement does not apply to the accompanists. I suggest that professional requirement of facilitators should be lifted in order to recruit more facilitators with diverted backgrounds. In the end, accompanists should also receive same restorative justice training courses as facilitators. |
