Popis: | 104 This research aimed to explore the current situation of cyberbullying victimization and subjective well-being of the adolescents in Taiwan as well as the protective role of peer relationship. It conducted secondary data analysis of the database built up through “2014 Taiwan Students Health and Well-being Survey” and studied 301 6th grader students, 671 8th grader students and 1140 10th grader students. Questionnaires with socio-demographic variables variables (gender, grade, family affluence), cyberbullying victimization variables (bullied via text messages, bullied via pictures), the index of subjective well-being variables (life satisfaction, interpersonal relationships, subjective education and health) and peer relationship variables (peer support, contact by electronic media) were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson product-moment correlation and hierarchical regression analysis. The findings are as follows: 1. In Taiwan, 10.8% of the adolescents had been bullied via text messages while 4.4% of them had been bullied via pictures; elementary and junior high school see more message bullying than senior high school while more photos bullying is observed in junior high and senior high school than in elementary school. 2. About 73% of the adolescents perceived high life satisfaction; 74% of them found it easy to talk to their mothers while 60% of them found it easy to talk to their fathers; 74% of the adolescents felt their peers kind and helpful; 66% of them reported feeling pressured by schoolwork some or a lot while 30% indicated that they like school; in the aspect of health, about 40% of them reported poor or fair health while 24% reported multiple health complaints. 3. There was a low negative correlation between the ratio of adolescents cyberbullying victimization and subjective well-being. 4. For adolescents, the subjective well-being was low positive correlation with the extent of perceived peer support, while there was no significant correlation between subjective well-being and contact by electronic media, which, on the other hand, was lowly positively correlated with cyberbullying victimization. However, for the adolescents from junior and senior high school, there was a low negative correlation between the cyberbullying victimization and perceived peer support. 5.Peer support moderated the relation between cyberbullying victimization and subjective well-being. In the end, the study, on the basis of its findings, proposed suggestions to the school, teachers, parents and follow-up studies for future reference. |
