Popis: | 104 An Action Research on Integrating Picture-Story Books into Elementary English Teaching for Increasing The Numbers of Students' Vocabularies and Learning Motivation Abstract This study aims to explore the process of integrating picture-story books into elementary English teaching for increasing the numbers of students' vocabularies and learning motivation. Action research method was adopted to conduct this study. In a ten-week long action research, 6 elementary sixth-grade students in Hsinchu were chosen to take the coarse once a week and each time for 40 minutes. The data analysis was mainly qualitative and quantitative supplemented, including the diary of reflection, class observation, interview records, the vocabularies tests, the tests of learning motivation and the opinion sheet of integrating picture-story books into elementary English teaching in order to know the change of the numbers of students' vocabularies and learning motivation after integrating picture-story books into elementary English teaching. The main purpose of this study are listed as below: 1. Exploring the process of integrating picture-story books into elementary English teaching for sixth-grade students. 2. Exploring if integrating picture-story books into elementary English teaching can increase the numbers of students' vocabularies. 3. Exploring if integrating picture-story books into elementary English teaching can increase students' learning motivation. The results of this study were listed as follows: 1. The prediction of the cover can increase students' learning motivation. 2. Match the word cards and the picture cards to link the picture and vocabularies can increase the memory. 3. Bingo games increase the memory of vocabularies. 4. Different picture-story books with different activities can increase students' learning motivation. 5. Integrate picture-story books into elementary English teaching can increase the numbers of students' vocabularies. 6. Integrate picture-story books into elementary English teaching can increase students' learning motivation. |
