The EU identity of citizens from Central and Eastern EU member states (CEEs) are to be influenced by EU institutions, the relations between CEEs and the EU, the interactions between CEEs and the other EU member states, as well as each CEE’s domestic political, economic and social situations. This thesis focuses on the 10 Central and Eastern EU member states, which joined in the EU in 2004 and 2007, and tries to answer the question whether the 10 Central and Eastern EU member states’ domestic political, economic and social situations influence their citizens’ EU identity evolvement or not. After examining CEEs citizens’ EU identity degrees trails with the three periods of CEEs’ national development, namely the period that CEEs’ domestic transformation after the end of cold war to join in the EU (1991-2004); the first five years of CEEs joined the EU (2004-2009); and the CEEs’ response to the European debt crisis since the European debt crisis began (2010-2014), this research discloses that when CEEs’ domestic political, economic and social situations are stable, the degrees of CEEs citizens’ EU trust and their EU identity will be raised; on the contrary, CEEs citizens’ EU trust and their EU identity will be reduced. These in turn influence EU political integration ahead.
