Entrepreneurial spirit, network relationship and human resource accumulation - A Case Study of chain hotel.

In the developing process of hotel independent management type from independent to chain patterns relies heavily on how the entrepreneurs identifies opportunities and uses the network to expand new regions. In addition, mapping human capital resources needed for future regions and establishing a sound personnel training system are the major factors for expanding hotel chains. In this case study, the author recorded the entrepreneurial spirit of hotel chains, the networking, and the human capital accumulation to interpret the change from an independent management for the directly-managed hotel to the chain management. The findings are as follows: 1. By acquiring knowledge that comes from internalization of their working experience, the entrepreneurs’ prior experience and knowledge increase the ability of identifying entrepreneurial opportunities. 2. Entrepreneurial team-working qualities mainly affect the team’s long-term cooperation. 3. While cooperating with vendors based on “trust” is the foundation for the relationship among strategic partnerships. 4. Interaction among organizations is important. Positive interaction drives one another to share resources and make the greatest mutual benefits. 5. The connection and hierarchy between senior executives and newly appointed director allow chain hotels to maintain and get more networking and resources. 6. Human capital affects organizational innovation. 7. The support of executives, either for independent or chain management is an important factor of the success in academic-industry collaboration. Finally, the conclusions and the management practices in this case study were presented. The author also provided reference regarding the limitation and suggestions of this case study for research in the related issues and for prospective managers or administrators in hotel chain operation.
