Finally, using the hypothesis to testify the effiency evaluation. The result said that the United Airlines and the US Airways shows the improving phenomenon under the pre-merger average Malmquist index. The Continental Airlines and the American Airlines shows the declining phenomenon. Continental Airlines (United Continental) and American Airlines are in the early merger exhibits the situation of declining efficiency. In the sensitivity analysis, can get input variables operating costs, labor and output variables RPM become more important, which means airline management should strengthen to this three factor. In overall terms, Continental Airlines (United Continental) and American Airlines show that over-imput on the labor, fleets, and assets, in output aspect is RPM should be inprove. Normal belief that the merger should have substantial benefits for the airlines, through this study found that the merger outcome and the hypothesis of test are the same, which means Mergers and Acquisition (M&A)did not improve its operating performance, but M&A for the airlines in terms of sustainable development, there are still have much benefits. |
