A very few studies used Augmented Reality (AR) technology engaged with innovative and critical thinking in educational proposal areas. AR technology concerned with scientific contents may be able to help low-achievement students to enhance learning motivation, increasing learning progress, absorption, and advance learning efficiency. AR also renders vivid display of abstract concept possible, links pictures with concepts via specific symbols. Thus, this study based on four principles (heighten recognition, strengthen technique, flexibility, and concision) to design ARLS-SE (AR learning system) of scientific subject that involved with Leap Motion for hand interaction. The method adopted evolutional research, engaging with cooperative learning strategy and critical thinking learning sheet in operating the ARLS-SE. The experimental study involved 45 participants (aged 18-20 years old) from the university; and used pretest, intervention, and post-test for exploring the impact and learning performance of using ARLS-SE on critical thinking of specific low-achievement students. The result discovered that the participants enjoyed operating the ARLS-SE and performed great learning effects on science saponification, which also had significant progress on low-achievement participants in their cultivating critical thinking. This findings also generates values of future trends in cultivating critical thinking on scientific aspects.
