A Study of Vietnam National Sport Games Innovative Governance

| Popis: | 104 Sports events are a great phenomenon in the contemporary world. Sport mega events like Olympic Games or World Cup of Football move the world. For a period of time, not only broad public focuses on these events but they also attract media, fans, VIPs, politicians. In addition, sport mega events are not only huge social gatherings but they also attract big business. Considerable amounts of money revolve around these events. The organizing committees seek to maximize revenue. Prices for the sale of television rights constantly rise. The above-mentioned sports events are important internationally. On the other hand, numerous sports events are important on a national scale. In this research, sport event is selected Vietnam National Sport Games (VNSG). The study focuses primarily on the governance in sport event. The purpose of this study is to change VNSG into perfect conditions to suit the conditions and circumstances of Vietnam in the new stage of development. The research adopts Literature Review Method to analyze whether the seven editions of VNSG organizers have thought about these important items from 1985 to 2014. Through literature analysis of seven summary reports of seven VNSG editions, this study selectes 167 evaluation variables belong to 17 subsystem variables of three system variables. After reviewing these seven summary reports of seven VNSG editions, the research uses the Fuzzy Delphi Method (FDM) to assess the suitability and consistency of the elements. Research carries out asking opinions by sending questionnaires for twelve experts via email. After two FDM rounds, this research selectes 145 variables as a basis for innovation VNSG governance. Statistical results show that selected variables gain very high consensus from the experts (threshold value ≧ 6.50). It shows that selected variables of research are persuasive and reasonable. Finally, the research concludes the elements that VNSG needs to be innovated, including: 1) Organization VNSG should maintain four fundamental objectives and added one more. 2) Olympic sports should be focused, especially the fundamental Olympic sports. 3) Organizing VNSG in September with four years periodically is appropriate. Besides, provinces and cities will compete together to be the host of VNSG. 4) Renewing the VNSG direction and operation process, the number of subcommittees reduced from 13 to 8 subcommittees. |
