Distorted message: Court's media communication

| Popis: | 104 This study examines the implicit factor which resulting the depression of Judicial Trust, even we made lots of milestone in both Judicial Independent and Institutional Independent within past 20 years. By analyzing the cast of “Child being killed by cutting throat” happened in 2012, we might able to portray the way how the courts communicate with media. And we found out that court’s mediate, opaque and passive in their way transmit judgment leads the depression of Judicial Trust. In this study, “Depth Interview” will be mainly used as this thesis’s methodology. Interviewees including 2 Spokesmen of the Courts (Taiwan Tainan District Court ＆ Taiwan High Court Kaohsiung Branch Court), 1 judge of each trial (Taiwan Tainan District Court as 1st trial, Taiwan High Court Tainan Branch Court as 2nd trail), and 4 journalists serve in 3 different but major newspapers and 1 regional newspaper, which are Apple Daily, China Times, Liberty Times and China Daily News. To sum up, my thesis argues that “Judicial Trust” is earning and maintaining by both Court and Press. As populace using Mass Media, Court should take public relations more seriously, in cast of misleading coverage or distorting message about the trail, the judge and the court. And the Press should strictly comply with their own professional ethics, composing a comprehensive coverage to the masses. |
