An investigation on optical characteristics of ZnO nanowires and ZnO/ZnS core-shell nanostructures

Popis: | 104 In this thesis, we investigate on the optical characteristics of zinc oxide (ZnO) nanowires and ZnO/ZnS core-shell nanostructures. In the experiment, ZnO nanowires were grown on the sapphire using diethylzinc (DEZn) and nitrous oxide (N2O) as precursors, and the ZnS shells of ZnO/ZnS core-shell nanostructures were grown on the ZnO nanowires using the ditert-butylsulfide (DTBS) and DEZn as precursors. The luminescence properties of ZnO nanowires and ZnO/ZnS core-shell nanostructures were studied by photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy. RT PL measurements of ZnO/ZnS core-shell nanostructures shows a 0.015eV red shifts in neutral donor exciton emission of ZnO after coating ZnS. Low temperature PL measurements of ZnO nanowires and ZnO/ZnS core-shell nanostructures also show the neutral accepter exciton emission and the donor accepter pair emission in addition to the neutral donor exciton emission. The disappearance of the surface exciton PL emission in ZnO/ZnS core-shell nanostructure samples is attributed to the separation of the electrons and holes in the core-shell nanostructures. |
