The Cognition about New Working Hours' System of Clinical Nurses in a Regional Teaching Hospital

Popis: | 104 Background and purposes Nursing manpower plays an important role in the medical industry, but most of literatures pointed out that working overtimes to cause their high turnover rate. According that, Taiwan Ministry of Labor implements new working-hours system since 1st January, 2016. They try to improve these problems. Till now, how much realization about their rights of clinical nurses? What did hospitals take steps to meet the new rules, and do the nurses know about their working-hours rights? So, this study likes to realize the following purposes: (1) to investigate all clinical nurses’ working-hour situations in a regional teaching hospital in Taichung. (2) to measure working-hour rules in Taiwan Labor Standard Act. (3) to measure the cognition of these relevance policies in which their hospital took.(4) to find out the key factors which could influence the above cognition situations. Materials and methods With cross sectional study method, by a structured questionnaire as the tool to investigate all 300 clinical nurses in this sample hospital. At last, 220 effective cases were collected. All data processed by SPSS 17.0. Outcomes and discussions Most of these samples are women (95%), 31-40 years old (43.6%), college graduate (55.9%), married (55.5%). About their working situation, only 2.3% of them were working on times. Most of them are shift-work (60.9%), worked over 40 hours per week (50.9%), and on call work but without pay (40.5%). Furthermore, 98.7% of nurses were almost extended their working hours every month, 52.79% were delay 0.5-1hr (52.7%), secondly were 2-3hrs (33.2%), and 5% were worked over 3hrs (5%), and only 32% of nurses ever asked for their overtime-duty pay. However, the differences of patient’s disease severity, inventory management and tedious hand-off from patient problems are the main reasons for the extended working hours. According to the results from the cognitions about the New Labor Standard Act of 40 working-hour per week, they indicated that nurses realized about cutting pay by statutory working hours were illegal and multiple resources for attendance recording system should be accepted, just like: attendance book, attendance record card etc. On the other hand, nurses have lower scores on three aspects, they are limitation of overtime, staff can refuse to accept extra work form instant messages when they off. their cognitive hospital nursing services currently have scores significantly associated (p |
