Bai Xien-Yong's “Taipei People” is a novel describing the difficult times that his parents experienced, while “Father and the Republic of China” is a book with words, pictures and drawings as well as a historical biography of his father Bai Chong-Xi recording his military life during the war time till settlement in Taiwan. These two books are both written by Bei Xian-Yong. Although a novel is different from historical biography in essence, there is a hidden but strong relationships between them.Firstly in the book of "Father and the republic of China", we introduces the important but unnoticed contributions of Bei Chong-Xi to Taiwan history, and then we moved to the book "Taipei People," and discussed those characters who had the bad fortune in the history of R.O.C. We even made a further analysis how Bei Xian-Yong adopted old materials and added new materials to connect these two books. Moreover from "Father and the republic of China," we can find historical evidence in order to observe the time background and characters categories in "Taipei People." With all the above, we can discover Bai Xien-Yong's competency to link and enable the meaningfulness between novel literature and historical biography.
