This study aims to investigate the cultivation and development circumstances of TV sports news anchorwomen in Taiwan. The purposes of this study 1) investigates the cultivation of TV sports news anchorwomen in Taiwan, 2) understand the work style of TV sports news anchorwomen in Taiwan, and 3) and investigates the development circumstances of TV sports news anchorwomen in Taiwan. This study employs research methods such as Literature Reviews and semi-structured in-depth interviews on 7 TV sports news anchorwomen that are currently in the position or out of the position in Taiwan. The data collected from interviews are then collected and analyzed to obtain Research Results as follows: 1. Cultivation of TV sports news anchorwomen in Taiwan TV sports news anchorwomen in Taiwan are motivated to broadcast sports news owing to their preferences for sports. A clear tongue is a basic requirement to take on this job. But after they enter the workplace, they do not receive institutionalized training, but learn things on their own. They think that TV channels should use professional languages to pass on knowledge about sports and broadcast skills for on-the-job training. 2. Work style of TV sports news anchorwomen in Taiwan The job content for TV sports news anchorwomen in Taiwan includes news broadcast, going out on a news story, and news translation. Meanwhile, TV sports news anchorwomen in Taiwan must also have basic abilities in editing and project planning. Their work hours are pretty long as in 9 hours on average. 3. Development circumstances of TV sports news anchorwomen in Taiwan TV sports news anchorwomen in Taiwan will 1) remain in the current position, 2) switch to broadcast non-sports news and 3) create jobs or find other jobs.
