This study aims to provide an analysis and interpretation of one of Henriette Renié’s most representative harp works “Légende”. There are five chapters in this study. Chapter one explains the motivation, purpose and method of this research. Chapter two describes the historical background of the time in which Henriette Renié lived, as well as the development of the harp. Chapter three addresses Henriette Renié’s compositional background, and her contribution as a performer, composer and educator respectively. Chapter four first introduces the background of Henriette Renié’s Légende, then discusses the Performance Practice and interpretation of the composition. Finally, chapter five gives a conclusion of this study.
