Popis: | 103 This study presents the simultaneous optimization of integrated operation and water distribution network for existing desalination plants in regions that draw from several sources to fulfill multiple water demands with various specifications of purity and flowrate. The desalination plants using different technology, reverse osmosis (RO) and multi-stage flash (MSF), are considered. A general structure that contains all the feasible operation and distribution network for the desalination plants is developed. Compared to the previous operation of RO plant, the proposed operation allows using various number of membrane for each pressure vessel in a stage and enables the permeate flow from each pressure vessel discharged directly to the sinks, which provides greater flexibility for water distribution network. Furthermore, the integrated operation of RO and MSF plants enhances the feasibility to fulfill the severer condition of water demand. The optimization problem is formulated as a mixed-integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) problem, which minimizes the total annualized operating cost subject to the constraints of supply, demand, plant configuration, and model equations for RO module and MSF. The MINLP problem is solved using the GAMS software. The effectiveness of the proposed systems integration approach is demonstrated by solving several case studies. |
