Popis: | 103 Taiwan will soon become an aged society given its accelerated aging pace. At present, senior citizens account for 12% of Taiwan’s population. Combined with the decreasing birth rate on the island, it keeps adding burdens to the children and that would substantially shake Taiwan’s social foundation, educational system, and economic structure in the future. In order to have a closer look at Taiwan’s aging society, analysis on the “Senior People Survey, 2005” and “Senior People Survey, 2009”, both conducted by the Ministry of the Interior (MOI), is made as reference for future policy-making and practices. The purpose of this study is to examine the common characteristics, family background, and socioeconomic conditions of young seniors, and then analyze the status of their social participation and willingness for moving into institutional housing units. The study also makes comparison between the results of the two senior people surveys conducted in 2005 and 2009, respectively. Finally, it analyzes the factors which might affect their willingness for moving into the institutional housing units. Results of this study: 1.Common characteristics, family background, and socioeconomic conditions of the young seniors surveyed in 2005 and 2009.2.Significant rise in social participation percentage of young seniors from 2005 to 2009.3.Slight rise in young seniors’willingness for moving into institutional housing units from 2005 to 2009.4.The correlation between young seniors’ social participation and their willingness for moving into institutional housing units depends on their expectation for continuing their social activities at the institutional housing places. |
