The switched reluctance motor has advantages of simple and strong mechanical structure, low manufacture cost and able to work in high temperature. However, because of its motor structure, it will have larger torque ripple when motor commutation occurs. Furthermore, the winding current rises slowly when excitation begins so that the torque will be smaller, and as off excitation, the current tail may fall into negative inductance slope area that will cause negative torque and also reduce dynamic response. In order to improve torque ripple and dynamic response, fuzzy logic control together with the pulse-width modulation technique and turn-off angle are used in this thesis. In the thesis, Microchip dsPIC30F4011 chip is used to implement the real-time experimentsand to verify the performance and feasibility of the proposed scheme.
