The effective online survey samples are 474 people in total within the received 612 surveys. The scales applied in the online survey include: “The Survey in the Experience of Cyber Sexual Harassment” and “The Survey in Coping Strategies of Cyber Sexual Harassment”. The samples acquired are analyzed in different analytical strategies such as Descriptive Statistics, Independent-samples T Test, One Way ANOVA and Chi-square Test. Significant results were as followed: 1. The experience of sexual harassment on the internet is not common among university students; however, more than half of them have experienced at least one sort of sexual harassment on the internet, mostly gender harassment. 2. When experiencing sexual harassments, such as “gender harassment”, “unwanted sexual harassment”, or “sexual coercion” on the internet, university students are more likely to block the harassers, which means “avoidance/denial” in social coping. The ways of social coping become more directly and aggressive as the harassment has gone further. 3. Significant difference in sexual harassment on the internet can be observed in different gender, academic year, location of the school, educational system, accommodation type, and years of using instant messenger. 4. As far as the coping ways concerned, significant difference can be observed in different gender, academic year, location of the school, educational system, majoring, years of using instant messenger and times spent on instant messenger everyday in the aspect of “gender harassment”. Significant difference can also be observed in different gender, academic year, location of the school, majoring and times spent on instant messenger everyday in the aspect of “unwanted sexual harassment”. It can also be observed in different gender, academic year, location of the school, majoring and times spent on instant messenger everyday in the aspect of “sexual coercion”. |
