A Study on Relationships Between Marriage Attitude and Marital Conflict Coping Strategies among the New Inhabitant Women in Meinong Area

| Popis: | 103 The main purpose of this study was to understand relationship between marriage attitude and marital conflict coping strategies with marital adjustment process, among new inhabitant women in Meinong area. The valid sample amounted to 263. Surveys and questionnaires were adopted for data collection which included charts of "Marriage Attitude Scale" and "Marital Conflict Coping Strategies Scale". The data collection were analyzed statistically through SPSS statistic software (version 14.0), in which independent-sample t-test, One-way ANOVA, and Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient. Major findings of the research were summarized as follows: 1. The sense of marital attitude of new inhabitant women was medium strong. They tend to regard the marriage as a lifelong matter and a commitment to each other. They also considered marriages to be lasting. 2. When facing marital problems, new inhabitant women would adopt internal active strategies, such as sympathizing with the spouse, respecting the spouse and better understanding problems. They seldom chose external passive strategies, like pounding things, complaining to relatives and seeking spiritual sustenance. 3. There was a significant correlation between marital attitude of new inhabitant women and the following variables respectively, including their age, nationality, religion, parents'' marital status, atmosphere of the original family and monthly income. 4. There was a significant correlation between marital conflict coping strategies of new inhabitant women and the following variables respectively, including their nationality, education, and monthly income. At last, the findings would be thoroughly discussed and presented to the public; schools and authorities concerned in order to help them better understand the relationship between marital attitude and marital conflict coping strategies with marital adjustment process, among new inhabitant women in Meinong area. It was expected that results of the research would contribute to the stipulation of proper marriage lectures and laws for new inhabitant women. |
