A study of the competition and cooperation of business model when Bank 3.0 – An example of third party payment industry

“Bank is no longer a place you go, but something you do.” The future of financial innovation is fermenting. The bank is facing digital waves and has to speed its transformation, especially innovation and reform in channel and product to assist and serve clients. The business model is the key of concrete and feasible enterprise’s strategy but the outer environment would influence the utility of business model. Hence, this research expects to use analysis of business model, and analyze the market force of total environment, force of industry, key trend, force of macro economics. It would be beneficial to adjust and adapt to the external influence. Payment Processing Institutions Act (the so-called “the third-party payment law”) has been read the third and passed at the Legislative Yuan on Jan. 16, 2015, and all companies all aggressively seized the market. The intersection of financial industry and e-commerce industry is the cash flow of payment system, which make the limitation of business gradually vague, and further developing a variety of business models. If developing new business models from co-opetition perspective and strengthen mutual cooperation and competiveness, it would create the maximum value of business view, and also help a lot in developing business opportunity of new market. This research collecting the views according to the interviews with experts, and using the nine factors of business model as research framework, including bringing into the target customers, value proposition, channels, customer relationship, benefit stream, key resources, key activities, key cooperative partner, cost structure, by Osterwalder and Pigneur(2012), and discuss the business model of third-party payment as well as analyze the competition and cooperation of financial industry and e-commerce industry. From the case study, we knew the business model of third-party payment existing the close relationship with competition and cooperation for the financial industry and e-commerce industry. Facing the coming of digital finance, the consumers still absolutely expect to get the payment environment of both safety and convenience. Therefore, the financial industry should use their own profession for creating value, establishing good relationship of competition and cooperation, creating maximum environment of internal cash flow, and creating the future of digital payment environment so that the financial industry and e-commerce industry just could setup their own profession and strength mutual trusted partnership, and meanwhile creating value of customer value as well as promoting overall competitive advantage.
