A Study on Implementation of Bible Teaching to Improve Elementary Students' Good Characters an Example of Caring

Popis: | 103 This study aims to improve elementary students’ characters with bible teaching and using an example of caring. The object of this study is a group of thirty-five six graders. The life education curriculum~ “Love Never Fails” is based on “Gospel of Luke” and developed with the use of “Caring”. After a twelve-week implementation of the curriculum, the study reveals how “Gospel of Luke” influences students’ characters through action research. There are three goals of the study: the first one is to develop this life education curriculum~ “Love Never Fails,” based on “Gospel of Luke”, and to discuss difficulties and solutions during the implementing process; second, to understand the changing of elementary students’ caring character in cognitive, affective, and psychomotor ways after implementation of “Love Never Fails”; thirdly, to discuss growth and reflection during the implementing process of “Love Never Fails”. Therefore, adopting the action research approaches, observation records, worksheets, teaching journals, surveys, interview minutes, and the data of pre- and post-test have been collected to edit, analyze and evaluate. The study has reached conclusions below: 1. Based on “Gospel of Luke”, developing the life education curriculum~ “Love Never Fails,” for six graders for future reference. 2. Putting “Love Never Fails” into practice to improve the cognitive, affective and psychomotor abilities in “Caring” character for six graders. 3. Teachers can obtain professional growth, with application of “Love Never Fails” in life education curriculum for six graders. Finally, the feedback based on the research results are: first, suggestions of applying bible teaching to life education curriculum for catholic elementary schools; second, suggestions of life education curriculum for the other schools; suggestions for future studies. |
