The purpose of this study is to compare the factors and multiples textbook in elementary school between Nan-I-Edition textbook, TN-Edition, in Taiwan and Everyday Mathematics Edition textbook, EM-Edition, in USA. This study analyzed teaching material context and with the method of content analysis and the tool of concept maps. Furthermore, this study also analyzed the teaching material structure in terms of the teaching material process. The results of this study are as follow: From teaching material context of factors and multiples, TN-Edition starts from the fifth grade, including factors, common factors, multiples and common multiples. Then greatest common factors, least common multiples and other concept about factors and multiples are in the sixth grade. Every topic inTN-Edition is independent, the topic have been taught will not be found in other topics again. The teaching context of factors and multiples in EM-Edition start from the fourth grade, including factors, multiples, prime numbers, and composite numbers. In the fifth grade, students need to study the concepts of common factors, greatest common factors, common multiples, and least common multiples, etc. In EM-Edition, the topics have studied will be found in other relative topics or units again. The analysis of teaching material structure shows that there are more context problems and more teaching examples in TN-Edition than EM-Edition to introduce the main concepts. EM-Edition uses wealthy sheets and games to help teachers teaching, but TN-Edition uses less part of the design about that.
