The Study of School Adjustment of Senior High School Student with Hearing Impairments in Tapei City

The purpose of this study was to investigate the school adjustment and communication skills of senior high school students with hearing impairments who are integrated into general classroom. The participants of this study were senior high school students with hearing impairments in general classroom in Taipei City. A total of 74 Senior high school students with hearing impairments filled in the School Adjustment Questionnaires, and 69 questionnaires were sent back. The return rate is 93.2%. The main findings of this research were as follows: 1. Senior high school students with hearing impairments in general classroom in Taipei City adjusted well in following school regulation / rules and communication ability. However, they did have obvious problem in leaning adaptation. 2. The results of current study indicated that school adjustment was not affected by the factors of sex, grade, degree of hearing loss, school type, the type of resource services. 3. The association between school adjustment and communication skills was found highly related.
