A Study on Current Situations and Attitudes of On-line Learning Among Junior High School Teachers in Taichung City

The purpose of this study was to investigated the current situations and attitudes of on-line learning among junior high school teachers in Taichung City.The study applied questionnaire of “the current situations and attitudes of junior high school teachers’ on-line learning” as research tools.This research to the public junior high school teachers in Taichung City for the study, research by questionnaire method, issued a total of 440 questionnaires, 384 effective recycling questionnaires, and the effective recovery rate is 87.2%.The data was analyzed through the methods of descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, chi-square test, and Pearson product-moment correlation. The main findings of this study were as follows: 1. The current situations and of on-line learning among junior high school teachers in Taichung City. (1) Most teachers engaged in on-line learning in the office by idle time. (2) At the request of authorities, most teachers engaged in on-line learning passively. (3) Most teachers engaged in on-line learning 1-2 hours each time. (4) Most teachers adopted on-line learning within 18 hours every year. (5) The web site used by the teachers most frequently was the “E-learning Services Platform of the Ministry of Education”. (6) The course contents including “12-year Compulsory Education” were selected by the teachers most frequently. (7) There were significant differences in the current situations of on-line learning among teachers with different backgrounds in gender, position, and subject. 2. The attitudes of on-line learning among junior high school teachers in Taichung City. (1) The teachers’ attitudes were positive. The positiveness was at middle up level. (2) The teachers haved higher positive attitudes to computer self-efficacy and lower positive attitudes to perceived usefulness. (3) There were significant differences in the attitudes of on-line learning among teachers between genders. 3.The current situations and attitudes of on-line learning among teachers were significantly related to each other. The relation was at low level. Finally, according to the research findings, a number of suggestions were proposed for the related organizations of on-line learning, school administrators, the junior high school teachers, and the follow-up researchers.
