The Climatic Information System for Tourism in Southern Taiwan

| Popis: | 103 In recent years, since the five-day workweek policy is implemented, and many diplomatic agreements or contracts related to tourism are signed, these policy issues promote the booming tourism economy in Taiwan. However, meteorological factors are important for travel planning. This study collects 13-years weather data between 2001 to 2013 at 11 stations of Central Weather Bureau located in the central, southern and eastern Taiwan including these tourism areas of Alishan National Park, Chiayi, Penghu county, etc. Analyze the air pressure, temperature, rainfall, wind direction and other factors, and then import the data into the database for on-line query. Users can setup the query parameters including the location, month or weather variables on the website, and then the weather information can be displayed by both the text and graph styles. The visual representation provides sightseeing attractions to the public, and as a reference to the arrangements of a tour. By analyzing the daily data of weather stations within 13 years, and converting it into monthly information, the proposed system in this study lets users check the temperature, rainfall, air pressure and other meteorological factors of all regions and months on the website. Therefore, it would help them to make their travel plans. In addition, travel agencies, Bed and Breakfasts owners, hoteliers can use it for seasonal planning and off-season marketing as well. |
