For both the rapid growth in global population and fast development industry have resulted in a greater water demand, the exploitation of water resource has become a very important subject, and in that, obtainment of pure water via membrane filtration is widely researched the most. Chitosan is hydrophilic, of non-toxicity, and charged positively, and additionally, capable of rejecting both the small-molecule suspended substances and the salts, therefore in recent years, numerous studies work on chitosan composite membrane with it is applied on nanofiltration, advanced purification process. In this study, using chitosan as tight layer, silane as coupling agent (for example, tetraethoxysilane (TEOS), 3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilan (APTES) and 3-glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilan (GPTMS)), and polyacrylonitrile (PAN) as supporting layer, we prepare a new-type chitosan nanocomposite membrane through the surface modification of PAN. From the analysis of experimental result we find that, (1) The Si-O-C bonds found in ATR-FTIR analysis verifies the crosslink reaction of both chitosan and silane; (2) The EDS reveals that, the prepared membranes both have the best homogeneous; (3) The water contact angle shows that, the addition of functional- groups silanes to membrane can improve the hydrophilic property of membrane itself, and besides among these three silane, the membrane is the most hydrophilic prepared by GPTMS as coupling agent.
