| Popis: | 103 The economic advantage of Chiayi city brought by Ali Mountain’s exploitation during Japanese colonial period made Chiayi city top wooden city at that time. However as time changed, the traditional lumbering industry declined. The related historic buildings of lumbering industries were gradually registered as cultural heritage by the government. Therefore, traditional industry was transformed from economic activities into a new industry with cultural content. It further activated local development. Except historical buildings related to lumbering industries, the Beimen Area also has the Rail Way, which is closely bounded to lumbering industries. The function of Alishan Forest Railway transferred from lumber transportation into tourism. Thus, the Beimen Area has a rich railway culture. In addition, the Yunsiao Places culture and local religious festivals bring diverse landscape and local characteristics as well. This research took the Beimen Area of Chiayi City as a case and discussed how local characteristics influenced the development of regional industry. Literature review was done first. This review covered cultural heritage, local cultural industries and comprehensive community development. Second, in-depth interviews with public sector, local cultural workers, and local industries were conducted and concluded. It is hoped that this research can provided as reference for the development of the Beimen Area in Chiayi City in the future. |
