Formerly the battery balancing method is based on the load voltage. The variation through the transient state to the steady state is not considered. It caused the open-circuit voltage is unbalance. Hence, an open-circuit voltage balance method is proposed to overcome the unbalance problem in the series battery pack. Compare the different current waveforms, direct current wave, sine wave and pulse wave, on battery open-circuit voltage balance performance. Bidirectional buck-boost converter and digital signal processor are used tocontrol the balancing current waveform and the battery balancing circuit. In the experimental results, the voltages of the batteries are getting closer to each other no matter what kind of waveforms used. Which use sine wave to balance the precision is highest. The feasibility and the accuracy of the proposed method are confirmed in this thesis.
