Popis: | 103 Data loss is considered as a disaster for individuals or business companies in digital era with massive data generation. There are many solutions to solve data loss/damage or damage problems. However, most of them focus in the server domain. Few are seen in PC market. Many personal computers currently support RAID1 (Disk Mirroring) infrastructure, which becomes the basis of disk mirror or data backup functions. We studied the RAID1 implementation in the PC market with multiple case interviewees to investigate their requirement/strategies and analyzed collected data using the framework of disruptive innovation and service innovation theories on both demand and supply sides. Research results showed that (1) “new” market will be generated for those users who cannot or won’t afford server-rated computers; (2) “low-end” market will be generated for those users who currently reside in the low-end server segment. According to Christensen’s RPV theory, most IT hardware providers focus on continuous innovation for powerful high-end goods. We recommend those intermediate channel operators sell and promote RAID1 PC thru innovative service. Thus, PC’s disruptive innovation on “new market” and “low-end market” is formed. Further, a favorable results for intermediate channel operators to gain positive competitive advantage over PC manufacturer who choose either to “offer the market segment” or to “adapt to the demand change.” |
