| Popis: | 103 To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study to explore the influence of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and negative events on firms’ financial performance in Taiwanese stock market. The results show the significant negative impact of CSR on firms’ financial performance. Moreover, these findings lend more support to the shift of focus hypothesis that CSR has a negative effect on firms’ financial performance. Furthermore, CSR firms in less effective corporate governance also have more pronounced negative effect on financial performance than CSR firms in more effective corporate governance. More importantly, firms in less effective corporate governance have significant negative impact of negative events on firms’ financial performance as well. |
