Among the global IT industry, Taiwan was famous of the OEM/ODM Notebook Manufacturing for 20 years. Due to limited resources and the operation of the market mechanism, the global notebook OEM/ODM manufacturers faced tough competition and challenges in a changing environment and continued to develop a variety of strategies to cope with the competitive situation. In this study, based on dynamic competition theory, I like to explore on the case company’s foundry model, industrial policy, and competition and operational performance. Using SWOT and Five Forces analysis to explore the advantages and disadvantages, citing Ming-Jer Chen (2010) dynamic competition point of view, analyzing competition between the company and its competitors and compare the cases, and adopting the profitability of the four metrics to measure the company''s cases performance. Results found that: (1) the case company''s competitive advantages included the strong R & D capability, the specialization in marketing mode, and the ability to direct shipments, however, disadvantages covered unclearly strategic partnerships with customer, the shortage of R & D staff, difficult to control on material cost because of the key components imported. (2) The higher bargaining power of case company''s suppliers and the lower bargaining power of customers; the higher proportion of competitors existed; the lower threat of potential entrants, the higher the threat of substitutes still. (3) The greater focus of the market vendors and competitors commonality, the more focus of vendors in the market to competitors attack, competitors will be more concerned and to respond in a positive way. (4) The case company on operating performance is better than its competitors.
