Study on the School Clubs Participation Motivation and Obstruction Factors for Elementary School Students

The present study aimed to explore the current situation of the school clubs participation motivation and obstruction factors of elementary school students, analyze different background variables of the school clubs participation motivation and obstruction factors and explore whether there are relationships between the participation motivation and obstruction factors. The study used questionnaires, the research samples were the fifth and sixth graders in Tainan City and retrieve 408 valid questionaires. The present study applied descriptive analysis, Independent Sample T-test, One-Way ANOVA, LSD Post Comparisons and Pearson Correlation Analysis to analyze the data. At last, conclusions and suggestions of the study were proposed, hope elementary school students could participate in school clubs actively, make good use of the learning opportunities, enrich learning environments and establish the foundation of leaning in the future. The research conclusions are listed as follows: 1.The number of girls’ participation in the school clubs is higher than boys’; the fifth graders take the most parts; most of them participate in the school clubs in the category of the physical education; participation time period is within forty minutes and most of their parents support their children to participate. 2.There are no obvious differences in elementary school students’ genders in the construct of the school clubs participation motivation while there are obvious differences in elementary school students’ grades, the school clubs classification, the participation time period and parents’ supports in the construct of the school clubs participation motivation. The fifth graders’ participation motivation is higher than the sixth graders’; students participating in school clubs of physical education and music, participating more than two hours and gaining supports from their parents have higher participation motivation. 3.There are no obvious differences in elementary school students’ genders, grades and the participation time period in the construct of obstruction factors while there are obvious differences in elementary students school clubs participation categories and parents’ supports in the construct of obstruction factors. Students participating in school clubs other the classification of physical education, music, arts and performance have higher obstruction factors; students without parents’ supports have higher obstruction factors as well. 4.There are negative relationships between the school clubs participation motivation and obstruction factors.
